A role may ask for stakeholder management, SQL, and forecasting. The resume should show where those capabilities were used, at what scope, and with what result. A skills list that repeats the job post without evidence is weak to both recruiters and ATS reviewers.
If the candidate did the work but used different terminology, the resume can be clarified. If the role requires a certification, industry background, or responsibility the candidate does not have, the right response is to acknowledge the gap and strengthen adjacent evidence.
One general resume cannot optimize equally for a product role, a consulting role, and an operations role. Keep a separate targeted version for each serious application so the language, proof order, and summary match the actual job.
